Minister of Post and Telecommunications Mr. Sid Ali Zerrouki has supervised on Tuesday, June 17th, 2025 the opening of the second Algerian-Korean forum on cybersecurity, organized by his ministerial department jointly with the Korean Agency for international cooperation (KOICA), in presence of Mrs. Meriem Benmouloud, High Commissioner for Digitalization with the rank of Minister as well as H.E You Ki Jan, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Algeria, in addition to some senior officials from many institutions and bodies.
This forum occus in a context of dynamic and accelerated digital transformation which our country is going through these past years, which requires capacity reinforcement in terms of cybersecurity. This event proves the fruitful partnership between Algeria and Korea as well as the joint will of both countries to foster the fruitful cooperation based on the exchange of experience and capacity building in
addition to keeping pace with the technological advances in a digital world.
In his opening speech, the Minister indicated that Algeria is embarked on an ambitious process of digital transformation, achieved thanks to the widespread of high-speed fiber optic infrastructure, bridging the digital divide and the preparation for launching the 5G services.
He added these efforts are made as part of the national proactive and sovereign strategy in terms of cybersecurity, inspired by the insightful vision of President of the Republic, quoting his opening speech of the « national meeting on the national strategy of cybersecurity » on June 7th, 2023, in which he asserted, « the identification of cyber threats, the set up of efficient monitoring mechanisms as well as a strategy in case of risk, are currently the main proactive conditions to ensure the necessary and full protection of vital infrastructures in a safe and constant way, as part of taking charge of the national safety with all its political, military, economic, social and even technological dimensions.
Mr.Zerrouki has highly praised the partnership level with the Republic of Korean which is the leader of telecoms and cybersecurity. He also highlighted the joint will to establish a practical and fruitful partnership in the fields of transfer of know-how, innovation and operational capacity building.
The two-day forum will include a series of technical presentations and scientific debats between Algerian and Korean experts on several issues relating to cybersecurity.
