The Minister of Post and Telecommunications exercises his powers over all activities related to the sector. As such, and in consultation with the concerned ministerial departments, he is responsible, in particular, of the following actions:
1. IN POSTAL MATTERS
- Develop a general policy for the post and postal financial services;
- Propose the necessary measures for their development, modernization and digitalization, in particular through the generalization of information systems.
2. IN TERMS OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES
- Ensure the development, proper functioning and permanence of public networks and telecommunications services, data storage and sharing infrastructures.
3. IN TERMS OF MODERNIZATION AND BUILDING THE INFORMATION SOCIETY
Propose all actions contributing to the linking of Algeria to the information society and ensure the coordination with all stakeholders.
4. IN TERMS OF MANAGEMENT AND OPERATION OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE TELECOMMUNICATIONS SATELLITE BANDWIDTH
- Define, in conjunction with the concerned institutions, the national policy relating to the management and exploitation of public and private telecommunications satellite bandwidth;
- Ensure the development and implementation of public and private telecommunications satellite bandwidth operating procedures;
- Participate in the development of satellite communication systems.
5. IN TERMS OF SECTORAL TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT
- Define, in relation with the concerned stakeholders, the ways and means of developing human capacities through training, research, innovation, transfer and technological appropriation in the sector.
