As part of his round of visits to the national provinces, Mr.Sid Ali Zerrouki, Minister of Post and Telecommunications has gone on Sunday, August 31st, 2025 to Batna where he assessed the sector’s situation and the services provided to citizens while inaugurating several postal and telecoms establishments.
He started his visit with a presentation made about the sector’s indicators in the municipality of Merouana, first about the postal network which comprises 155 post offices including two mobile offices as well as 67 ATMs, then internet and mobile telephony services which have over 211 thousand subscribers to fixed internet and 1.6 million subscribers to mobile telephony.
The visit programme is also about inaugurating a commercial branch of Algérie Telecom after renovation and a new post office in 1650 AADl
houses street in the municipality of Oued Echaaba. In Hamla 2 street located in Batna city, the minister has launched fibre optic service while focusing on the need for improving the reception conditions, enhancing e-payment and speeding up the connection of schools with internet network in anticipation of the start of the school year.
Besides, the minister has inspected the branches of mobile telephony operators to emphasize the respect of the specifications and ensure a quality coverage of road axes with technical solutions likely to reinforce the existing networks.
In the main receipt office in the heart of Batna city, th eminister gave instructions to make up for the shortage noticed in ATMs distribution. He also spotlighted the importance of e-payment to improve the services and ease congestion on post offices. As he met the workers there, the minister ensured them that the sector sees to better their social and professsional conditions.
On the sidelines of his visit, the minister has chaired a local coordination meeting with the sector’s senior officials of the western provinces, in a bid to prepare for the start of the social year, to improve coverage with telephony and internet networks and speed up the generalization of fibre optic nationwide by 2027 in addition to the follow up of the universal telecommunications service.
To conclude his visit, the minister paid a visit to the adminsitrative district of Barika where he inspected a post office outside the norm and has taken note of the local indicators while insisting on reinforcing the province’s network by setting up new establishements and additional ATMs.
