Minister Sidali Zerrouki launches practical measures to improve post and telecoms services

As part of his commitments to achieve a quality leap in the post and telecommunications sector, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Mr. Sidali Zerouki has launched a series of practical measures and consultations to improve the sector’s efficiency and reinforce its services. These steps comply with the orientations of President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune and aspire to meet citizens’ expectations.

  • Site visits to develop infrastructures and ensure availability :

In this regard, the minister has paid unexpected visits to some strategic sites of telecoms networks and infrastructures, where he gave clear instructions on modernizing critical infrastructures before the end of this year. Besides, he focused on the need for ensuring services continuity in all circumstances, mainly in emergencies, feasts and weekends.

  • Meetings with central administrations officials to define priorities :

The minister has held a meeting with the officials of the central administration to federate the vision and define strategic priorities. This meeting was mainly about accelerating the digitalization of procedures as well as the integration of innovative technological solutions so as to improve performance, reduce deadlines and overcome the obstacles likely to hinder performance development.

  • Reinforcing cooperation among the sector’s companies :

To that end, the minister has gathered CEOs of the companies and operators coming under the sector in a bid to focus on implementing partnerships among private-public sectors. As such, it was approved to

launch some initiatives on innovation, to expand telecoms infrastructures through the use of the latest technology, to develop technology parks and support e-payment as a step towards the digital integration.

  • Next steps to back up innovation and development :

The minister highlighted the need for forecasting the future by launching training programs for young people in new technologies field, particularly artificial intelligence and cloud computing. Furthermore, he said it is important to speed up the projects related to fiber optics connection, to use new technologies and to follow them up in order to ensure the achievement of goals and sustain added-value digital services.

  • Sustainable vision to support national development :

These measures are included within the global vision that aims to transfer the post and telecoms sector into a lever for the socio-economic development in Algeria.
