On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Mr. Sid Ali Zerrouki, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, chaired a videoconference meeting with local sector officials, dedicated to monitoring the implementation of scheduled programs and addressing several national priorities.
At the outset, the Minister recalled the directives of the President of the Republic, which emphasize placing the citizen at the heart of all efforts by ensuring the consideration of their concerns and the provision of high-quality, efficient services within reasonable timeframes.
He also stressed the need to complete the sectoral projects falling under the national digital transformation strategy, particularly those concerning the provision of essential infrastructure, while strictly adhering to established deadlines.
Furthermore, Mr. Zerrouki highlighted the strategic importance of expanding high-speed Internet coverage in agricultural areas, industrial zones, and activity hubs, describing them as vital spaces for supporting investment and boosting economic activity. He underscored the need for swift responses to submitted requests and the provision of adequate support.
The meeting also addressed preparations for the launch of 5G services, with the Minister emphasizing that this technology requires the establishment of suitable infrastructure, notably by supporting operators in their network expansion efforts.
In conclusion, the Minister discussed the project to generalize fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) technology, recalling the national objective of completing fiber-optic network deployment by 2027, and stressing the importance of adopting performance indicators with periodic evaluations in order to achieve this strategic goal.
