As part of enhancing the national cultural heritage, and out of recognition to its immortal emblematic figures, a series of postage-stamps has been issued under the theme « The men and women of the theatre ».
This series highlights the elite of men and women of the Algerian theatre who have laid the foundation for the fourth art in Algeria through their works and positions.
To start with Mahieddine Bachtarzi, the father of Algerian theatre and its infrastructure, Aïcha Adjouri « Keltoum », one of the icons on stage, to reach the leaders on the theatre stage after independance such as Abderrahmane Kaki, author of « El garagouz » and Abderkader Alloula whose works combine simplicity which is understandable to all and intellectual depth which gives way to meditation and mindfullness, then Azzedine Medjoubi the author of « Hafila Tassir » , to arrive to Sakina Mekkiou called « Sonia » the actress and director who has left a remarkable artistic heritage. These issues are a commemoration of emblematic figures who gave rise to the glory of the Algerian theatre in order to immortalize their art works to the current and future generations.
