Mr. Zerrouki also reaffirmed his commitment to improving the professional and
social conditions of postal workers, who form the backbone of the sector. He pointed out that since taking office, he has initiated a series of measures aimed at enhancing workers’ conditions and strengthening the institution’s performance, including:
- enhancing some bonuses for Algerie Poste workers out of recognition for their efforts.
- launching the renewal process for trade union sections to create a special union for Algerie Poste workers following a meeting with the secretary-general of the national federation for postal and telecoms workers.
- continued upgrading of post offices to ease congestion on highly-congested offices , to enhance human resources mainly those classed in 4R which used to work with a single agent.
- developing human resources following the latest hiring of 498 new workers to enhance the postal network.
- optimizing the ATMs network. Indeed, 600 new machines are currently being installed in many provinces while maintaining and repairing over 400 out-of-service machines. This enabled to improve availability up to 95% in a network of 2000 machines nationwide.
Furthermore, he said these measures only represent a short-term part of a series of other actions to be carried out in the future. Also, he underscored there will be more measures since the improvement of the working conditions for Algerie Post workers is a major step forward providing high-quality services and consolidating the historical company’s position in the national economic and digital transformation.
