As part of his participation in the Forum of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) held in Geneva, Minister of Post and Telecommunications Mr. Karim Bibi Triki has partaken in a high-level discussion panel of ministers and senior executives of telecoms from all over the world on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024.
Responding to a question about Algeria’s strategy for accelerating the development of its telecoms infrastructure to reinforce digital inclusion and achieve a fair socio-economic development, based on the recently registered indicators, the Minister revealed Algeria has sought to make all its citizens benefit equitably from the advantages of telecoms and the ICTs by providing such technology to everyone everywhere at reasonable costs.
He added the strong political willingness to generalize this technology is the main base for its strategy that gave rise to an action plan which execution is being constantly assessed, to help make significant progress in all indicators like fixed internet access rate which has reached 65% currently versus 40% early 2020 as well as the equipped capacity provided by the international bandwidth which increased six fold over this period.
