Minister of Postal and Telecommunications, Mr. Sid Ali Zerrouki, has paid, on Thursday, December 26th, 2024, a field visit to « Edahabia » card manufacturing and personalisation centre in Birtouta, considered as a strategic hub for the development of electronic payments in Algeria.
During his tour in the center’s various units, the Minister emphasized the importance of meeting the deadlines for delivering payment cards, whether for new applications or card renewals, while ensuring the highest standards of quality and security.
Mr. Zerrouki also highlighted the need to accelerate the process of increasing the center’s production capacity to reach 50,000 cards per day by the end of the first quarter of 2025, with new technological features. These efforts aim to meet the growing demand for ” Edahabia ” payment cards, which are one of the essential pillars for promoting financial inclusion and developing electronic payment systems, in line with the government’s roadmap.
The Minister concluded his visit by stressing the importance of the partnership between the center and banking institutions, praising the efforts made to achieve these national objectives that contribute to the digital economy and sustainable development.
