In line with e-payment dynamic our country has adopted and its massive use, in view of the ongoing rise in the number of Edahabia card, about 13.7 million, and of BaridiMob subscribers, i.e. roughly 4.5 million, and in a bid to implement the Government’s roadmap relating to e-payment development, mainly the information and awareness raising, the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, jointly with the Ministry of National Defense, the Agency for Information Systems Safety, the Command of National Gendarmerie, the General Directorate of National Security as well as Algérie Poste corporation, launches an awareness campaign for a safe use of Edahabia card and BaridiMob application from 24 to 26 September, 2024.
This endeavor aims to enlighten such tools’ users about prevention recommendations and good practices to avoid fraud and swindling mainly through:
- preventing the sharing of personal data with anyone, particularly: the name, surname, Edahabia card’s number, password and pin code ;
- making sure of the official applications for download and installation of the aforementioned tools,
- freezing the card and filling a complaint to the competent authorities of the National Safety in case of fraud or swindling.
Besides, this initiative aims, in the same vein, to highlight the preventive behaviors, the orientation of users towards the mechanisms, tools and parties through which or for which they can notify the practices and situations they might face in case of fraud, swindling or exploitation, for an efficient handling and management.
To that end, a digital awareness content has been drawn up about the multiple aspects of this topic, beside a rich program including nearby activities and events for the benefit of citizens nationwide, comprising:
-open days in the main post offices and receipt offices,
-awareness activities at universities for students,
– SMS for mobile telephony subscribers.
In the meantime, communications and radio and TV programs are scheduled via national media along with publications and media flash on social networks.
