The Minister insisted on the need for protecting children and enabling them to use the Internet for postitive and useful reasons at the celebration of their world day.
At the invitation of Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women Condition, Karim BiBi Triki, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, has partaken in June 1st at International Conferences Centre (CIC) in Algiers, in the ceremony organized for the celebration of the World Children’s Day, along with National Education Minister, Minister and High-Commissioner for Digitalization, National Delegate to childhood Protection, chairman of the National Observatory of Civil Society, chairman of the National Human Rights Council as well as the Representative of the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
In his address, the Minister spotlighted the significant importance of this year’s theme : « Children and digital creativity », as a real challenge for the post and telecoms sector which strives, parallel to its efforts to generalize the ICTs use among children and consolidating their inclusion opportunities to the information society, to give birth to an environment that enables them to surf safely and usefully in the internet.

He underscored, beside the achievements made in terms of internet connectivity and linking, in which our country has made big progress, the sector gives a particular attention to the protection and prevention of our chidren from the internet hazards and threats due to their curiosity and spontaneity, exposing them to serious damage and violations likely to endanger their moral and physical intergrity.
He added, our sector’s action plan works in line with the fundamental principle of « seeing to ensure the children’s interest first » dedicated by the Algerian legislator in the 2020 consitution, notably in article 71, law 15-12 of July 15th, 2015, about the protection of children, in its reference texts pursuant to international agreements.
In the same vein, he highlighted the efforts made by his sector jointly with the various stakeholders in terms of the protection of children, for example, « the Guide for children’s protection online » as well as the awareness campaigns aimed for internet users in general and chidren, in particular. Besides, he emphasized the action about execution of ICTs generalization programs a means to facilitate education and learning and reinforcement of children inclusion within the information society through backing up and supporting the achievment of projects to link schools and houses to broadband in order to allow them to access e-learning platforms, knowlege and sciences appropriation websites as well as scientific and teaching contents likely to help them in their school works while practicing their hobbies and passions via online entertainement.
As far as drafting and developing useful pedagogical content is conderned, the minister declared his sector keeps sustaining the initiatives that aim to diversify and enhance education, teaching and entertaining content, launched by telecoms operators or holders of creative ideas and innovations in this field.
