Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Mr.Karim Bibi Triki has chaired, on Monday, Novembre 5th, 2024, alongside Minister of War Veterans and Right Holders Mr.Laïd Rebiga the ceremony of issuing a new series of stamps entitled : « The martyrs of November 1954-1962 ». This event is meant to pay tribute to some martyrs who fell on the battlefield in November, such as Benabdelmalek Ramdane who died on the fourth day of the outbreak of the revolution (November 4th, 1954), Badji Mokhtar and Chaib Djzaïr who died on November 18th, 1954, Belkacem Grine who died on November 29th, 1954, as well as Ziane Achour who died on November 7th, 1956, Abderrahmane Mira who died on November 6th, 1959 in addition to Hocine Rouibah who died on November 8th, 1960.
In his address at a historical symposium convened on this occasion, the minister has asserted the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious revolution, which is very dear to us, is an opportunity to highlight the main stages of the blessed revolution which put an end to the heinous colonialism after 132 years,
to remember the heroic deeds and sacrifies of martyrs so that we can live free in a free nation, strong with its capacities, strenghtened by the bravery and genius of its children. Besides, the minister has declared, on the occasion of the military parade organized as part of the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of November 1st, 1954 revolution, that the heroic achievements of this revolution prove, indeed, that Algeria, had won the victory against colonialism in the past and is confidently pursuing its path to victory thanks to its children’s loaylty to the pact of the brave martyrs.
Since the stamp has a great symbolic meaning as well as a paramount importance for preserving the national memory, and has long been present to write the history of the distant and contemporary past of Algeria and the epics of the revolution in particular, the minister said his sector has wished to contribute to this event by issuing seven stamps as a tribute to the heros who fell on the battlefield in November, and also as a recognition to their sacrifices for their country and people and to inform this generation about them.
