The computerization of post offices started by setting up a pilot post office hub enabling to validate technical and organizational options, procedures of deployment industrialization processes.
Based on the preliminary positive results of this first phase and as part of the five-year development program 2010-2014, Algerie Poste then embarked on widespread computerization of post offices across the country.
To achieve it, four financing agreements were signed between Algerie Poste, the Ministry of post and ICT as well as the Ministry of finance in a bid to:
- acquire the necessary equipments for post offices computerization (PCs, printers, drives, authentication cards, network equipments, computer security equipments, queue management facilities;
- acquire an extension of the post offices computerization solution for an unlimited license;
- migrate the communication network of post offices from the X25 network to the IP network.
The Computerization of Post Offices objectives
- Improvement of services quality and speed;
- Counters multifunctionality and adaptation of staffing requirements to the real traffic;
- Improvement of follow-up of postal enterprises’ activity and decision-taking support;
- Improvement of working conditions thanks to operations automation;
- Security enhancement of the workplace and financial transactions;
- Improvement of control mechanisms and inspection of post offices ;
- Progressive elimination of fraud ;
- Follow-up of financial liquidity availability in post offices;
- Establishing a single information system (Uniformity IS), and harmonization of working practices and procedures, management, maintenance, and mainly of control of operations carried out on the postal office network.
