Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Karim Bibi-Triki chaired on Thursday, November 18, 2021 with Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia in Algeria, Ramdan El Fayedh the ceremony of issuance of a common postage stamp symbolizing the common natural monument linking the two countries "Oued Medjerda" which is a common geographical source gushing Souk Ahras, eastern Algeria to throw itself into the Gulf of Tunis in the Mediterranean Sea on 450 km.
This new issue implements the recommendations of the 3rd session of the Algerian-Tunisian joint technical committee of cooperation in post and ICT, held on January 26-27, 2019 in Algiers. These include the recommendations of the working group responsible for cooperation between the post of Algeria and that of Tunisia, regarding the common philatelic issue as a common denominator to commemorate the close relationship between the two brotherly peoples.
This stamp is the second of its kind after that issued in 2008 on the occasion of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the sad events of Sakiet Sidi Youssef where the Algerian and Tunisian blood flowed side by side to demonstrate the deep solidarity and brotherhood of the two countries that share the same painful fate.
The Minister took the floor on the occasion to praise this important issue by stressing that it reflects the strength of excellent strategic bilateral relations between the countries.
